Washroom Assistant job summary

This is a casual position, offering the opportunity to work on an as-needed basis to support the school during the school day. The successful candidate will play an important role in supervising the use of pupil toilets and ensuring that the facilities are used safely and appropriately.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, approachable and confident when working with young people, with the ability to remain calm and professional in a busy school environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising pupils using the toilet facilities during the school day.
  • Maintaining an accurate log of pupils entering the toilets.
  • Managing queues and directing pupils to available cubicles.
  • Carrying out regular checks of the pupil toilets.
  • Reporting any damage or concerns to the Line Manager.
  • Promoting positive relationships with pupils in line with the school's behaviour expectations.
  • Following school policies, procedures and the Staff Code of Conduct.
  • Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Supporting the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

About you

You will need to be vigilant, responsible and able to interact positively with pupils. You should have a calm and professional approach and be committed to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for all pupils.

Previous experience of working in a school is not necessarily required; however, you must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of safeguarding and the wellbeing of children and young people.
