Wellbeing & Behaviour Support Practitioner job summary
We are seeking a proactive, highly flexible and committed Wellbeing and Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our team. Working as a member of the Wellbeing team, this role plays a vital part in ensuring all students feel safe and supported at school.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of working with young people with emotional, mental health or behavioural needs, who wants to make a meaningful difference to young people’s lives.
About the role
Under the direction of the Wellbeing Team Manager, you will support students with their emotional, mental health and behavioural needs. You will take a lead role in ensuring the wellbeing of the students in the school by providing specific, targeted support to students, who are struggling with their emotional wellbeing or behaviour.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering 1:1 or small group sessions to support students with their emotional, mental health and behavioural needs.
Participating in the creation, delivery and evaluation of behaviour intervention programmes to support individual students with a range of behaviour issues.
Supervising students in internal suspension.
Working collaboratively with, and supports, students, parents & carers, staff and external agency professionals.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
Has previous experience of working with young people with emotional, mental health or behavioural needs.
Is able to work as part of a team effectively.
Is proactive, flexible and able to adapt to ever-changing circumstances.
Communicates confidently and professionally with students, parents and carers, colleagues and external professionals.
Can work independently, use initiative and remain calm under pressure.
Experience within a school environment, or training in supporting young people with their wellbeing or behavioural needs, would be an advantage, although training will be provided for the right candidate.
