Wellbeing Coach job summary

Are you passionate about helping children flourish — emotionally, socially and academically?
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wellbeing Coach to join our friendly and inclusive primary school team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

As our Wellbeing Coach, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children who may be struggling with confidence, motivation, behaviour, or personal challenges. You’ll work closely with staff, families, and outside agencies to create nurturing relationships and practical strategies that help pupils thrive both in and out of the classroom.

You’ll be part of a supportive Trust that values ambition, collaboration, compassion, excellence and inclusivity, and you’ll have access to high-quality professional development to help you grow in your role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to help them develop resilience, confidence and a positive sense of self.
  • Work one-to-one and in small groups to remove barriers to learning and promote wellbeing.
  • Collaborate with teachers, leaders and external professionals to provide coordinated support for children and families.
  • Lead targeted wellbeing programmes, such as nurture groups, social skills or emotional regulation sessions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions and share progress updates with staff and families.
  • Play an active role in safeguarding and supporting the welfare of pupils as part of the school’s Inclusion Team.
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, professionalism and a genuine commitment to inclusion and equality.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children, young people or families — ideally in an educational or pastoral setting.
  • Understands the challenges children may face that affect their ability to learn or feel confident at school.
  • Communicates effectively with children and adults alike, with warmth and sensitivity.
  • Is proactive, flexible and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Brings enthusiasm, compassion and resilience to everything they do.

We welcome applications from candidates with a relevant Level 3 qualification and a genuine passion for improving the lives of children. Experience of safeguarding responsibilities, play therapy or mentoring is desirable.

Please refer to the job description and person specification for further information. In your application, tell us how your knowledge, experience and personal values make you an excellent fit for this role.
