Priory Rise School is seeking to appoint a Year Leader for Year 1. You will be responsible for providing leadership and management of your year group’s curriculum, delivering high-quality teaching and effective use of resources. You will work to improve learning standards and achievement for all pupils, while also carrying out duties as a classroom teacher.
As a Middle leader, you will contribute to whole-school self-evaluation and school improvement planning and be responsible for mentoring and developing staff within the key stage. You will offer guidance and support to key stage teaching staff, modelling best practices and showing up-to-date knowledge of current theory and practice.
The Year Leader will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD, including planning and teaching lessons, assessing pupils’ progress, and managing behaviour effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Inspire, line manage and lead the staff team in a year group, including the requirement of performance management.
Provide, by example, a model of excellent practice for other staff.
Lead school improvement plan initiatives and other whole school initiatives within a year group.
Lead all aspects of teaching and learning in a year group, establishing high standards of practice and good or better progress for all children.
Take key responsibility for overseeing and leading the behaviour for children in the relevant year group, working with the leadership team to maintain high standards of courtesy and conduct.
Lead team meetings and relevant staff meetings.
Work closely with the headteacher, and wider leadership team to lead high quality provision within the year group.
