About Christ Church CofE Controlled Primary School and Nursery

Christ Church CE Primary School is a one-form entry Voluntary Controlled Church of England School situated close to Birmingham City Centre. The school has around 230 children aged from 3 to 11 years old. There are six classes and an Early Years Unit. All classes have access to additional support form Learning Support Assistants and Bilingual support. The school has three playgrounds, a field, a computer suite and a library. There is a hall which is used for Collective Worship, dance, music, gymnastics, games, drama and school productions, as well as for school lunches.

Currently, 46% of our children are in receipt of pupil premium funding, 12% have SEND and 29% have English as an additional language.

We are a Local Authority school although as a church school we are guided by the Birmingham Diocesan Board of Education. We are closely connected with Christ Church Parish. Our ethos seeks to promote Christian values and morals whilst being sensitive to the range of cultures present within our school and community.

Our previous Ofsted inspection rated us as ‘Outstanding’, stating that: ‘The promotion of pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural education is outstanding. The school’s work with the community to increase awareness of issues outside the school, in modern Britain and in the world at large is exceptional. The school’s chosen approach to teaching has a strong emphasis on learning behaviours such as independence and resilience.’ We have recently received the Primary Quality Mark for both English and Maths.
