About Firs Primary School

Firs Primary School is larger than the average primary school and the numbers on roll have increased year on year. Due to an increase in our number on roll, and also the ever-growing demand for school places in the local area, we were identified in early 2021 by the Local Authority as a site for expansion. The expansion of our premises commenced in July 2021 and completed in June 2023, transitioning us from a two to three form entry Primary School for children aged 4-11.

Our total pupil numbers as at October 23 are 540 of a current 590 capacity (plus a further 32 children in Nursery, some with part-time places) . For the 23/24 academic year, we remain 2 form entry in Reception and Y1, but if the Local Authority requests that we open the third classes, we will accommodate this. When Reception and Y1 move to 3 form entry, our total capacity will be 650 (excluding Nursery).

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all pupils. Appointments will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, Staff Disqualification Declaration and reference checks. The School reserves the right to research shortlisted candidates on social media platforms/internet, which may be taken into consideration during the recruitment process.
