About Hinderton School
Hinderton Special School is situated on the outskirts of Ellesmere Port. It serves primarily the West of Cheshire, with most pupils coming from Ellesmere Port, Neston and Chester. It is an Autism Specific Primary school catering for children aged 4-11 and has 45 LA commissioned places.
The school enjoys a high profile in the local authority, receiving many visits, both local and international. We are a Teaching School and provide training and support to a wide range of local schools and settings. An experienced and successful team has established excellence in teaching children with language and communication needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions, (ASC).
The school values a multi-disciplinary approach to providing the best quality education for every child.
The Senior Leadership Team consists of the Headteacher, two Joint Deputy Headteachers and an Acting Assistant Headteacher. A School Management Team also includes the Business Manager, together with the Head and Deputies.
There are currently six full time teaching posts. There are at least two teaching assistants in each class and, and a HLTA working across the school as well as Family Liaison Worker. As a small school we value the contributions to the team from the Administrative Assistants, Site Maintenance Officer, Cleaners, Cook and Mid-day Assistants. The governors also play a very active role in the school.
The local health authority provides regular on-site speech and language therapy which is managed by a Senior Specialist Speech and Language therapist.
