About Hope Wood Academy

Welcome to Hope Wood Academy. The academy meets the needs of students aged 2-19 years with the range of special needs. I believe our greatest resource is our dedicated team of professionals who strive to provide the very best in education and well-being for all of our pupils. Our teaching staff, support staff and multi-disciplinary professionals are all trained in understanding and meeting the needs of students who have complex needs. We work with a wide range of external agencies to ensure our students and their families are well supported. We pride ourselves on getting to know our students and families very well to enhance their learning experience.

We have a broad and balanced curriculum offer that includes the National Curriculum, therapeutic input, and extra-curricular activity. The Academy is well-supported by a number of multi-disciplinary professionals offering speech and language therapy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

We offer a range of curriculum pathways including accredited outcomes appropriate to individual pupil starting points and their aspirations for adulthood. The personal and social curriculum is underpinned by a range of accredited qualifications and/or experiences that develop independence skills, work based skills and community participation.

We are very proud of our Academy’s positive ethos, one that values diversity and provides equal opportunity. We have high expectations for each individual, and are committed to developing each student’s strengths and growing areas of need.

We welcome and value open and honest feedback about the academy and work with a range of stake holders to ensure the best possible experience for all students.

Hope Wood Academy is part of Ascent Multi-Academy Trust which is a partnership of five North East special schools. This partnership benefits students through shared resources, expertise and curriculum access.

We welcome new students, parents and visitors to the Academy. Please get in touch to see for yourselves the opportunities we provide.
