About Rawtenstall Cribden House Community Special School

Cribden House is a 90 place special school designated for primary aged pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and/or Autism. However in recent years, the school has catered for a wider range of additional needs including more severe learning difficulties. The school is evolving to meet this wider range of need and the new headteacher will play a lead role in the next stage of the school’s journey.

Our school comprises 3 areas – a 19th Century (Grade 2 listed) building, a converted stable block and a cluster of cabins. The entire premises is situated in a beautiful woodland setting with a forest trail encircling the grounds.

Our purpose statement is ‘To instil the belief to succeed’ and our school values are Teamwork, Respect, Inclusion and Positivity. Our staff and governors are committed to these values and our school community is a happy and supportive one where children feel safe and happy to learn. Our parents are delighted with the progress they see in their children and they value the trusting, strong relationships they develop with the staff in our school.
