About Rougham Church of England Primary School

Our School has spacious grounds set in the beautiful Suffolk countryside and is situated next to Rougham Church. We are a Church of England School and maintain close links with the church making full use of the facilities it offers. The school has in recent years increased in size and can now take up to 210 children aged between 4 and 11 years. Two new classrooms were created and a new, large fully equipped hall provides additional space for sport, drama, music and assemblies. Rougham school serves children from the villages of Rougham, Hessett and Rushbrooke but we also welcome children from outside our catchment area. We have many children attending the school from other surrounding villages.

I feel extremely proud and privileged to be the Headteacher at the school and to work with such a united and dedicated team of teachers, support staff and governors. It is our top priority to provide and maintain an environment in which the children can flourish and reach their potential and progress confidently to the next phase of their education. We aim to provide a positive experience for the children with a varied and engaging curriculum that will help them to grow emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically. You will find our classrooms to be hives of activity, full of creativity with the children happy and focused on their learning. We have a safe, secure and caring environment with a family atmosphere where good behaviour is promoted at all times.

At Rougham Primary School we believe in an ‘open door’ policy. Parents are warmly welcomed into the school and their involvement in their child’s learning is strongly encouraged. We believe that children learn best when staff and parents work in partnership.

Commitment to safeguarding

The school carries out criminal record checks on all staff members and volunteers within our school. From June 2013 the school expects all new staff to complete a Disclosure and Barring service check. All contracts are conditional on a clear Disclosure and Barring check.

All staff and volunteers at the school are given an Induction briefing which outlines the school’s safeguarding, health and safety and radicalisation procedures.

All staff at the school are up to date with current procedures for keeping children safe in education and everyone is committed to ensuring that this is a high priority for our school.
