About Scholes (Elmet) Primary School

Scholes (Elmet) Primary School is proud to be a central part of the village community. It's a modern, well equipped, spacious community school which has been a part of Scholes for over a century.

Our Early Years phase is made up of Nursery and Reception. It’s judged to be outstanding by Ofsted:

‘The school’s early years is exceptional. It carefully considers what the youngest children need to know and when. Consequently, children achieve very well.’ (Ofsted, May 2024)

Pupil outcomes are typically higher than national.

‘Scholes (Elmet) Primary has always been a caring and nurturing school for both of my children. They have both thrived…The support and care doesn’t end at the end of the school day. All of the teachers are…on hard to offer guidance, support and extra learning when required. I cannot recommend this school enough.’ (Parent survey, 2026)

As part of this and all recruitments, we carry out thorough safeguarding checks. This includes (not an exhaustive list):
1. an online search to help identify any issues which might compromise your professional role
2. obtaining two references, one of which is from the candidate’s current or most recent employer
3. a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check for the successful candidate
