About Silverwood School

Silverwood School photo

Silverwood School is an inspirational and forward thinking maintained special school based in the heart of Wiltshire and spread across three campuses. Our school is dedicated to supporting pupils aged 4-19 years with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Our mission is to enhance opportunities, enjoyment and empower every pupil to reach their full potential. Our vision is ambitious ‘Building Community; Inspiring Learning’, to create a truly integrated and inclusive system of outstanding education for all young people with SEND needs.

Our inclusive system of excellence will seek to re-balance and improve educational provision for all children and young people with SEND, including those currently in mainstream schools and resource bases or in other alternative provision. Offering local and community-based SEND provision across a wide area from its new inception. It will also deliver high quality training and expertise to a wide range of SEND settings across the county.

Commitment to safeguarding

Under section 175 of the Education Act 2002, Governing Bodies of maintained schools are required to ensure that their functions are carried out with a view to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. It is vital that schools adopt recruitment and selection procedures that help deter, reject or identify people who might abuse children or are otherwise unsuited to work with them, in order to safeguard children.
