About St Mark's CofE Primary School
St Mark’s is an inclusive, welcoming and nurturing family where everyone is loved, RESPECTed and valued. We are proud to be recognised as unique individuals, who celebrate diversity within a supportive Christian environment, where all can flourish. We aim to make a positive difference to the world we live in for ourselves and others by following the example of the Good Samaritan.
At St Mark’s CE Primary School, our mission statement, ‘Loving to Learn, Learning to Love’ is at the heart of all we do and is underpinned by our School Values of Respect, Responsibility, Equality, Spirituality, Perseverance, Enthusiasm, Commitment and Trust.
Every member of the St Mark’s family has high aspirations and ambitions for all children and believe that no child should be left behind. A clear focus on Quality First Teaching ensures that all pupils make great progress from their starting points across all aspects of the curriculum. Our excellent staff team ensure all children receive both the social, emotional and educational support they need to flourish and thrive.
Pupils at St Mark’s are keen to learn, have a pride in all they do and their behaviour is exemplary. Pupils work hard to develop and shape the work at St Mark’s and they also have a voice and contribute to initiatives within the Orchard Community Trust. Pupils are a real asset of the school.
Reading is given the highest priority to support pupils to learn to read so that they can then read to learn. Read, Write, Inc phonics is used to support pupils to develop their phonetic and spelling knowledge. The wider curriculum is broad and balanced, having a clear focus on developing pupils’ Cultural Capital through experiential learning, visits and visitors.
