Teacher

Job Purpose | To plan, deliver and assess high-quality teaching for pupils, creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment that enables pupils to engage with education, develop positive attitudes, and make academic and personal progress.

Specific Duties
Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and adapted learning in line with the national curriculum
Assess, monitor and report on pupil progress, using data to inform teaching
Create a positive, safe and stimulating classroom environment
Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and EAL
Promote high expectations of behaviour and learning
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents/carers
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extracurricular activities and events
Maintain accurate records and fulfil statutory duties
Promote a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment that supports emotional regulation.
Use positive behaviour strategies and restorative approaches to support pupils’ development.
Monitor and assess pupil progress and adapt teaching accordingly.
Support pupils to develop resilience, confidence and independence in learning.

Behaviour and Pastoral Support
Implement the school’s behaviour policy and SEMH support strategies. 
Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, social skills and positive behaviour.
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and wellbeing.
Work with pastoral staff to support behaviour plans, risk assessments and individual support strategies.      Promote a culture of respect, safety and inclusion.

Planning, Assessment and Monitoring
Assess pupils’ progress and maintain accurate records of attainment and development.
Track progress against learning targets and support the development of personalised learning pathways.        Use assessment information to inform planning and intervention.

Collaboration and Communication
Work closely with Learning Support Assistants and other support staff to meet pupils’ needs.
Communicate effectively with parents/carers regarding pupil progress and wellbeing.
Work collaboratively with external agencies such as therapists, educational psychologists and social workers where appropriate.
Contribute to staff meetings, reviews and multi-agency meetings.

Safeguarding and Wellbeing
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in line with school safeguarding policies.
Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and ensure pupils feel safe and supported.
Be vigilant to safeguarding concerns and report them in line with school procedures.
