Welcome to The Churchill School – a school where being part of the team really matters.


We are a friendly, inclusive and ambitious two-form entry primary school at the heart of the Hawkinge community. Proudly part of EKC Schools Trust, we work collaboratively with colleagues across the Trust and our wider community to create exciting opportunities for our children and support the professional development of our staff.


At Churchill, relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We know our children well, value every individual and work together to create a school where children feel safe, happy, confident and ready to learn. We are particularly proud of our approach to play. Our OPAL Platinum Award recognises the exceptional quality of our play provision, placing us within the top 1% of play provision globally. Our outdoor environment is a vibrant and exciting part of school life, giving children opportunities to imagine, create, explore, collaborate and develop independence. We believe passionately that high-quality play has a significant impact on children's wellbeing, relationships and development.


Our commitment to our wider school community has also been recognised through our Parent Kind Gold Award, reflecting the positive relationships and communication we have with our families, and our School Games Gold Award, celebrating our commitment to sport, physical activity, competition and inclusion.


We are fortunate to have a rich local history. The school stands on the site of the former RAF Hawkinge airfield, which played an important role during the Battle of Britain. Today, we continue to be an important part of the local community, building partnerships and creating opportunities for our children to experience and understand the world beyond the classroom.
