About The London Oratory School

Trad but quirky, The London Oratory School is a mainstream, Roman Catholic, all-through school with sixth form, situated in Fulham, south-west London. It caters for pupils aged seven to eighteen and has approximately 1,335 pupils enrolled.

Founded in 1863 by the Fathers of the Oratory, The London Oratory School is a state-funded boys' academy and admits girls to the sixth form. The school moved to its present site in 1970. In September 1989, the voluntary-aided school became grant-maintained. A Junior House was added next to the Arts Centre in September 1996.

Vision and values

As a Catholic school, The London Oratory School upholds Canon Law and the teachings of the Catholic Church. The school aims to provide an environment that supports the spiritual, physical, moral and intellectual development of each pupil. It also strives to offers a wide range of educational, cultural and spiritual experiences, which will help each pupil reach their maximum potential.

The curriculum is broad and varied and seeks to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils. Pupils are well versed in the core subjects, which include history, science, English and maths, but the school believes physical activity is just as important. All pupils have at least two periods of sport and physical education each week. Music is also a big part of life at the school and all pupils in the first three years must study the subject.
