About Waltham Leas Primary Academy

We strive to ensure that Waltham Leas Primary Academy has a friendly, caring, 'family' atmosphere that offers a warm welcome to our safe, calm environment for children, staff and visitors on a daily basis.

Our children are happy and proud to be members of our school community. It is important to us that we get to know them and develop their individual potential, whether this be academic, social, emotional, or spiritual. We develop and nurture skills, values and attitudes for life so they can deal effectively with the challenges that they will face in life. To this end, we focus on and encourage the development of such attributes as self-esteem, respect, tolerance, empathy, perseverance and sense of commitment.

We believe that learning should be fun and exciting, so to enable this, our mission is to offer the highest standards of education, based on a curriculum that is designed around the children's needs, and motivates and encourages them in memorable learning experiences. This is delivered by a highly skilled staff, who have high expectations of the pupils.

We expect the highest quality of behaviour from the pupils. Their achievements are celebrated, whether they be academic, sporting or artistic. To enrich their experience further, we offer a range of extra-curricular activities, both before and after the school day, appealing to the interests of the children.

The web of relationships that are always to be found in a school, are pivotal to our work and are greatly valued. The support, engagement and encouragement of parents is vitally important in enabling us to do our best for the children, and this is enhanced further by a number of other partnerships with a range of agencies. We are very proud to be an active member of our local community.

We also work closely with a group of local schools to further improve the opportunities we offer for the pupils in our care.

Our endeavours have brought about a number of awards and statuses. We hold the PSQM (Science Quality Mark), Music Mark Award, the Silver Healthy Places standard, Gold Sports Mark and more recently Eco Schools Award. We have also been designated as a Centre for Excellence for Personal Finance in Education (PfEG) and have the National Online Safety Accreditation.
