About Wharton Primary School

Wharton Primary School is a vibrant, inclusive and ambitious primary school serving the Little Hulton community in Salford. Educating children aged 3–11, the school currently serves approximately 371 pupils and operates from a modern site with capacity for around 460 pupils, providing both stability and potential for future growth.

As part of the The LINK Education Trust, Wharton benefits from the support, collaboration and professional development opportunities that come with being part of a successful and growing family of schools. Across the Trust, all schools are judged Good or Outstanding, creating a culture of shared expertise, high expectations and continuous improvement.
Wharton serves a richly diverse community and is proud of its inclusive ethos. The school reflects modern Salford, with pupils coming from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. Around a quarter of pupils speak English as an additional language, creating a culturally rich learning environment that celebrates diversity and promotes belonging.

The school's motto, Work Hard, Persevere, Succeed, encapsulates its commitment to developing resilient, confident learners who are equipped to thrive both academically and personally. The school places equal importance on academic achievement, personal development, wellbeing and character.
Wharton has demonstrated resilience and improvement over time. Following a period of challenge, the school secured a Good judgement from Ofsted, recognising improvements in leadership, teaching and outcomes. This provides a strong platform from which a new Headteacher can shape the next chapter of the school's development.

The school's recent conversion to academy status as a founder school of The LINK Education Trust (Jan 2024) marks the beginning of an exciting new phase. This presents a unique opportunity for an incoming leader to help define the school's future while benefiting from trust-wide support and collaboration.
