About Wheatley Nursery School

Welcome to Wheatley Nursery School. We put the children and families needs at the heart of everything we do. We pride ourselves in meeting the needs of all of our children on their individual journey.

We are a welcoming and inclusive school. Governors, staff and families are committed to working together to provide a high quality approach to education and care for young children. We believe every child matters and strive to provide rich experiences that support each child’s unique development based on early childhood principles.

At Wheatley Nursery School our vision is that through everything we do we are:

We are very proud to be one of the six maintained Nursery Schools in Oxfordshire. We are led by a governing body, a Headteacher and Early Years teachers/practitoners, all specialists in the Foundation Stage.

We offer government funded places of either 15 or 30 hours (according to the government criteria and with an appropriate eligibility code), for children the term after their 3rd birthday in our Nursery school provision. In Little Windmills our provision for 2 year olds, we offer funded places and fee paying places.

We recognise that starting nursery is a child’s first experience of education and that children’s earliest experiences of learning lay the foundations necessary for them to become confident in themselves as learners for their whole lives. There are many opportunities to ensure that while your child is at nursery, we get to know them and you and everyone else who is important to them.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. At Wheatley Nursery School we work in partnership with parents and carers. We have a duty to share information with other agencies where there may be safeguarding concerns. We will seek consent to share information with other agencies and make referrals to other agencies, including social care, with parents knowledge unless by doing so this puts a child at risk
