About Wilmington Grammar School for Boys

Wilmington Grammar School for Boys (often referred to as WGSB) is an extremely considerate school with a wonderful learning environment and atmosphere.

The key focus for ensuring our students gain the best possible education is to provide them with the highest quality teaching within the best learning environments. Continually developing the quality of their teaching and pedagogy is the number one priority for all our staff. The school's senior leadership team prioritises their attention to supporting what is happening day by day in the classroom and there is a relentless focus on continually raising standards and expectations which is equally endorsed and monitored by the school's governing body. The staff and students continually rise to the challenge.

The school is comparatively small with a six form entry in Y7/8 and a five form entry in Y9-11 with a total number of students on roll measuring approximately 1050 including an expanding joint Sixth Form with Wilmington Grammar School for Girls (WGSG). The school’s size and embedded ethos of care and support is the key feature of its reputation in the local community.

WGSB is a member of the Endeavour MAT family of schools, which pride themselves on setting consistently high expectations, securing outstanding outcomes and delivering exceptional standards of teaching and learning for all. Our students are encouraged to develop resilience and are supported to become innovative and thoughtful problem solvers via the Endeavour mindset programme.

Commitment to safeguarding

As a school we take safeguarding issues very seriously. The following gives an overview:
Safeguarding procedures in school are overseen by a member of the Senior Leadership Team, with a lead Governor responsible for ensuring that these procedures are in place and are monitored regularly.
The school has a designated DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead) and a Safeguarding Team who meet regularly to discuss any ongoing safeguarding or welfare concerns.
All staff have received recognised training in safeguarding and child protection.
