1:1 Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Temporary 1 year post (in the first instance)

At Springwell Leeds, we define education through connection and well-being rather than rigid systems. Operating within a primary-style nurture model, you will join our Key Stage 3 team as a critical 1:1 HLTA.

This is not a passive support role; it is a dynamic position funded by the local authority to fulfil the specific provisions of individual EHCPs. You will be the primary architect of a key group of individual students’ daily progress. We require a candidate who is as resilient as they are insightful.

Working with significant autonomy, you will collaborate with specialist teachers to design and execute bespoke learning experiences. We are looking for an intelligent problem-solver who can adapt in the moment to spark genuine joy and engagement in pupils who find traditional environments challenging.

For the right candidate, the role expands beyond the classroom into the heart of the community. You will have the agency to lead one-to-one community-based interventions, mentoring students as they navigate real-world complexities. Your Impact & Responsibilities

  • Creative Leadership: Take ownership of PSHE and pastoral curricula, utilizing your imaginative flair to make academic concepts accessible and compelling for your student.

  • Innovation & Advocacy: Develop bespoke projects and campaigns tailored specifically to your students’ unique profiles to foster confidence and participation.

  • Professional Mentorship: Act as the expert advocate for your students, ensuring they are seen, understood, and supported through a lens of high expectations.

This position would suit a candidate with a proven track record of being an advocate and supporting the learning of vulnerable pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. It would suit an individual who is passionate about making a real difference to students’ life chances and supporting them in achieving their potential in essential life skills. The ability to be creative and use imaginative flair to engage is essential, along with having resilience, drive and high expectations to inspire students to achieve. As we are a growing Academy with a teacher training school in the Trust, it may also provide an opportunity for further opportunities in the future.

To apply please submit an application through My New Term outlining why you feel your experience makes you a strong applicant for this exciting opportunity, highlighting areas in which you have shown impact.
