1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant job summary
Churchstanton Primary School is an inclusive school where all children are supported to achieve their full potential. We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our friendly, successful team, working part-time 1 to 1 with a child in our KS2 Class. This full-time post will start ASAP in SEPT 2022.
Post: Full-Time 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Responsible to: The Headteacher
Hours:30 hours per week (8.30am - 3.15pm) This includes lunch duties of 2.5 hours per week.
Salary Scale: TA Grade 15 / Point 4 - £9.98 per hour (£19,264 pro rata) MDSA Grade 17/ Point 1 £9.50 per hour (£18,333)
This job description describes in general terms the normal duties which the post-holder will be expected to undertake. However, the job or duties described may vary or be amended from time to time without changing the level of responsibility associated with the post.
We are looking for someone who will:
- Work 1:1 with a child with SEN, supporting their learning & social development.
- Undertake general duties as directed by the Headteacher, SENCo and Class Teacher to support the aims and ethos of Churchstanton Primary School.
- Have some experience, or prior knowledge, of supporting children with additional needs.
- Be creative in approach and provide opportunities to develop children’s learning.
- Work with other professionals, such as Speech & Language Professionals, Social Workers, PFSA and Educational Psychologists.
- Be a team player and flexible in approach.

Personal Specification
- Experience of working with children in some capacity
- Understanding of child protection and safeguarding within a school environment
- Ability to communicate with other professionals such as Speech & Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists
Qualifications
- Good literacy and numeracy skills
- Full and relevant qualification at Level 2 or above (if possible)
