Braunstone Community Primary School

Dual role for:

1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant - Grade 5, Pay Points 7 to 8

Approx. starting salary £14,109 (based on working 25 hours per week and 39 weeks per year)

Midday Supervisor - Grade 4, Pay Points 5 to 6

Approx. starting salary £1,356 (based on working 2.5 hours per week and 38 weeks per year)

Temporary until 19 December 2025, covering Maternity Leave

Monday to Friday, 09:00am until 15:00pm (inclusive of 30 minute midday duty and 30 minute unpaid lunch break each day)

Braunstone Community Primary School are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring and highly motivated 1:1 SEND Learning Support Assistant and Midday Supervisor who will be committed to improving outcomes for all of our children, along with a passion for providing inspirational learning experiences.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work under the supervision of a teacher to provide care and encouragement to children and young people with disabilities or special educational needs, supporting them to participate in activities and liaising, if required, with parents / carers / other professionals as appropriate.
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
  • To prepare and utilise ICT resources to support pupils learning.
  • Participate in educational visits and off-site activities in order to support the full engagement of the designated pupil(s).
  • Supervise pupils in the area in which they eat their lunch and manage queues accordingly.
  • Act as a responsible caring adult with the health, safety, and welfare of the children always in mind; must show conduct which commands respect.
  • Supervise/engage pupils after lunch, either inside or outside of the school building, being especially vigilant as to the health, safety and security of the pupils within their care, and in accordance with the School Behaviour Policy.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • NVQ 2 in support Teaching and Learning, or Equivalent OR able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 2 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
  • Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting.
  • Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Empathy with children and young people
