1:1 Teaching Assistant and Mid-Day Supervisory Assistant
Pickwick Academy Trust would like to recruit a temporary member of staff to perform the roles of both a part-time 1:1 Teaching Assistant and MDSA to support a named pupil on a 1:1 basis, based at Greentrees Primary School.
Both roles are interlinked so if the employee resigns from one they will have to resign from the other one at the same time too.
Hours and working pattern:
1:1 Teaching Assistant - 15 hours per week, 8.45am - 11.45am Monday to Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD Days).
MDSA - 5 hours per week, 12.00noon - 1.00pm, Monday and Friday, 38 weeks per year (term time only, excluding TD Days).
Salary range:
1:1 Teaching Assistant- D4-D6 £25,185 - £25,989 pro rata per annum (actual salary £8557 - £8830 per annum) depending on experience
MDSA - B2 - £24,413 pro rata per annum, actual salary £2765 per annum
Start date: Monday 5th January 2026 - or sooner if possible
End date: The appointment will be fixed-term due to funding for a named child and the contract will end when he/she leaves Greentrees Primary School or no longer needs support.
Our School:
Greentrees Primary School is a two site two form entry Primary School with a 12 place Resource Base. The school is situated on the outskirts of Salisbury. The school has strong international links and has an enquiry led skills based broad and balanced curriculum. The school prides itself on its behaviour. It is also committed to teaching children how they learn as well as the content of the curriculum. The school uses Guy Claxton’s 4 Rs of Learning and Carol Dweck’s Growth Mindset model to achieve this.
Role Overview
We are seeking to appoint a committed and flexible Teaching Assistant to support a named pupil on a 1:1 basis. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and liaison skills and will work closely with the class teacher and wider team to provide high-quality support.
In addition, the post will include responsibilities as a Midday Supervisory Assistant (MDSA). Duties will involve supporting children during lunchtime, both in the dining hall and on the playground, to help ensure a safe and positive environment.
The successful candidate will be a team player, able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff, and will receive close support and guidance from teachers and colleagues.
Duties will include:
Supporting pupils’ learning, either in groups or through 1:1 work. The exact tasks will depend on the learning support needs of the pupil(s).
Supporting pupils’ self-esteem, inclusion, behavioural development and pastoral needs.
Providing physical and/or personal care to pupils where required.
Supporting the class teacher(s) in delivering high-quality learning experiences.
Supporting the curriculum, assisting with the delivery of English, Mathematics and other areas of the National Curriculum, as well as the enhanced curriculum offered by the school.
Supporting the wider school environment, including setting up, storing, retrieving and maintaining classroom equipment and teaching aids.
MDSA responsibilities will also include:
Supporting children during lunchtime, both in the dining hall and on the playground.
Promoting positive behaviour and ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
Encouraging inclusive and active play to create a positive lunchtime experience.
