1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary
The successful candidate will be supporting a lower key stage 2 pupils 1:1. Some of the support will be delivered outside of the classroom.
Main Responsibilities
- Supporting pupil engagement and ensuring the safety of the supported pupil at all times
- Build rapport with 1:1 pupil
- Work closely with the class teacher.
- Following guidelines and advice for best practice in working with supported pupil
- Engaging in child-initiated learning and follow planning given by the class teacher
- Modelling effective communication and desired behaviours
- Communication with parents/carers and staff
- Creating engaging 1:1 activities which link to current learning
- Working with external supporting professionals and adapting practice according to advice
The post is related to the provision of special needs support for this pupil. The role will end if the provision is no longer required (or the pupil departs the school).
The successful candidates will have some experience of working with children in an educational setting. You will be a supportive and welcoming presence in the classroom with the dedication to inspire the children to meet their full potential.

- Experienced of working with children with a range of learning needs.
- Reflective, good humoured, and keen to try out new ideas
- Confident in dealing with avoidant and occasionally challenging behaviours
- Dedicated to forming a relationship with the pupils they support
- Enthusiastic and motivated
- Patient and calm
- Willing to undertake relevant training related to support
- Keen to work as part of a team and share ideas and good practice
- Has a commitment to Christian values
