1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

In September, Durweston will be welcoming a very special little girl to our school. She is very sociable and loves being with adults (particularly in large groups and at parties), but as she doesn’t yet have many words, she needs help to communicate and play with other children. She also has epilepsy and so needs careful supervision. After an episode, she sometimes needs to be given medicine.

We are looking for two adults to support her, one in the morning from 9 – 12.30 and one in the afternoon from 12.30 – 3.30. Experience of supporting a child with additional needs and limited language would be ideal but not essential, as we can provide training. However, as this is a position in Early Years, you will need to have a qualification recognized by the DfE. You can find a list of these here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-qualifications-achieved-in-england

We think Durweston is a great place to work. You would be part of our EYFS team who work hard to provide a fabulous environment and engaging learning experiences for our children but who have lots of fun too. They laugh a lot! If you would like to come and visit, please ring the office on 01258 252277 to arrange an appointment. We would really love to show you around and give you more information about the role.

Should you decide to apply, please complete all sections of the application form. CVs will not be accepted.

All applicants will be notified of the shortlisting decisions by email. References for shortlisted candidates will be requested before interviews.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All applicants will be subject to a number of pre-recruitment checks including the Disclosure and Barring Service check before appointment is confirmed.
