1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary
We are currently looking to employ a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work at our Parkstone site. Our Parkstone site works with students who can’t attend mainstream school for a variety of reasons including social, emotional and mental health needs.
We know that pupils and staff value consistency and so we are looking for someone who can work flexibly but will enjoy building relationships as a regular member of staff.
This job will involve working as the key adult for a specific young person to support them in class as well as at social times.
A desire to work with children and young people and to ensure that they have the support needed to overcome barriers to their learning is essential. A thorough new staff induction programme, CPD and continual support will be offered.
We are looking for someone who:
- Shares our vision of “Learning together in pursuit of happiness” and applies that to all they do in their work.
- Has passion/enthusiasm and can bring this to life through teaching.
- Has a particular interest in teaching students who have social, emotional and mental health needs.
- Can coach and support students.
- Is a highly motivated and flexible individual who can form positive relationships with students with a wide range of special needs, including behavioural, in order to make a difference for some of the most vulnerable adolescents across BCP.
- Previous experience of working with students with behavioural difficulties is desirable.
- Has a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills.
- Has a high level of communication and organisational skills and has a Grade C or above in GCSE English and Maths (Essential).
- Has experience of working in a school (Desirable).
