St. Leonard’s Church of England Primary School and Nursery is located in the beautiful village of Wigginton and we have very strong community links.
Our children enjoy learning and are very keen and enthusiastic leaners. Behaviour across the school is Outstanding and our parents are extremely supportive. The school is oversubscribed and we have approximately 134 pupils based in 5 classes. The school has benefitted recently from significant investment from the Diocese to expand and improve the school building and grounds. We have a very experienced and friendly team of staff and governors.
The school received an excellent Ofsted report in January 2019 following a one-day inspection which confirmed that the school remained good. However, the inspector advised that the school has demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in specific areas. That may indicate that the school has improved significantly overall. Therefore, it was recommended that the school’s next inspection should be a full section 5 inspection. We are awaiting a SIAMs inspection where we hope to retain our Outstanding/Excellent grading.
Our vision is to be an outstanding church school, guided by God, where learning is irresistible, achievement is high and our pupils leave us as independent successful learners, happy, confident individuals and caring, responsible citizens, excited by challenge, change and possibility.
