1:1 Teaching Support Assistant job summary

Wrestlingworth VC Lower School is a small, friendly village school about 5 miles from Biggleswade. We are federated with Dunton VC Lower School. Both of our schools have recently been recognised as ‘GOOD’ by OFSTED (December 2023).

We are entering an exciting period of change for our two small rural schools when we become a split site primary school from September 2024, as part of the CBC Schools for the Future project. Wrestlingworth will become Central Bedfordshire’s only Infant school, taking children from Reception to Year 2. Children will then transfer to Dunton Junior school from year 3 and stay through to year 6. There are lots of exciting changes ahead for both schools and we are looking for a strong, dedicated team of staff to join us on this journey.

This role is to support a child in our Year 1 class, Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 3.30pm, 30 hours per week term time only.

This role is offered on a fixed term contract for the duration of the child’s time at the school.

We are looking for an experienced, committed Teaching Assistant to support a child in our Year 1 class with additional needs and work closely with the class teacher. This role may also include supporting other children / groups of children in the class as directed by the class teacher.

The successful candidate will:

  • support the values and ethos of our Church Schools
  • be adept in supporting children's learning and understanding their next steps
  • be able to develop positive relationships with our already strong active school community

In return we can offer:

  • a school that prides itself on the individual attention given to every child
  • a school full of friendly, enthusiastic learners
  • strong values reflected in the ethos of the Federation
  • a dedicated, supportive and highly effective staff team
  • parents that support their children's learning and the life of the school
  • links with our churches and weekly worship in church

Please complete the application via the My New Term website. Please demonstrate, with examples how you meet each one of the essential criteria described on the person specification (attached).

The School reserve the right to close the application date sooner if a suitable candidate is appointed following application.
