What skills and experience we're looking for
Plan, deliver and review engaging learning opportunities for children in a mixed Reception and Year 1 class.
Provide a high-quality EYFS curriculum, making effective use of adult-led learning, continuousprovisionand opportunities for purposeful play.
Ensure a successful transition from Reception into Year 1, adapting provision appropriately as children become ready for the Key Stage 1 curriculum
Set high expectations which inspire, challenge and motivate pupils.
Assess, record and report on pupils’ progress and attainment, using assessment effectively to inform future teaching and provision.
Promote strong foundations in communication and language, early reading, writing and mathematics
EARLY YEARS LEADERSHIP if the experience or willingness to be supported with this role.
Lead the development of high-quality Early Years practice within the school.
Ensure that the EYFS curriculum is ambitious, well sequenced and appropriate to the needs of the children.
Support the effective use and development of continuous provision and the learning environment.
Monitor the quality and impact of Early Years provision and identify appropriate priorities for development.
Ensure assessment is purposeful,manageableand used effectively to identify children’s next steps
Work in partnership with Little Acorns Nursery to support continuity of learning and successful transition into Reception.
Develop positive relationships with prospective and new families and support transition arrangements into school.
PHONICS & EARLY READING LEADERSHIP - training could be given
Lead phonics and early reading across the school.
Ensure high-quality implementation of Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised,maintaining fidelity to the programme.
Model effective phonics and early reading teaching and support colleagues in developing their practice.
Monitor the quality and consistency of phonics teaching and reading practice.
Use assessment effectively to identify pupils at risk of falling behind and ensure timely keep-up support is provided.
Work with parents and carers to help them understand how they can support early reading and phonics at home.
SENDCo RESPONSIBILITIES - to have a SENCO qualification or be willing to work towards one.
The following section applies where the successful applicant is also appointed to the 0.1 SENDCo role.
Lead and coordinate provision for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities across the school.
Work with the Headteacher and staff to develop and implement the school’s SEND policy and inclusive practice.
Ensure the school fulfils its responsibilities under the SEND Code of Practice and relevant statutory requirements.
Support teachers in identifying pupils’ needs and planning appropriate provision through the graduated approach.
Maintain appropriate SENDrecords and ensure documentation isaccurateand up to date.
Monitor the progress and provision of pupils with SEND and evaluate the impact of interventions and support.
Work closely with parents and carers, ensuring they are appropriately involved in decisions about their child’s provision.
Where the postholder does not already hold the required SENDCo qualification, undertake and successfully complete the required qualification within the statutory timescale.
