What skills and experience we're looking for
This role is suitable for a qualified teacher experienced in leading on SEND. We offer an extensive CPD program of support.
The Lead Teacher for SEND will take lead responsibility to:
- Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
- The SEND Lead Teacher will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher, as set out in the STPCD
The job requires a person who
- Is an excellent teacher with SEN Co qualification or working towards it
- Has experience of leading and delivering quality policies and provision for SEND
- Ability to build effective working relationships
- Can lead and be part of a team
