Academic Support Year Lead job summary

About the Role

The Academic Support Year Lead is directly accountable to the Director of Ethos and Culture and plays a key role in sustaining the school’s ethos and supporting students to achieve their God-given potential. This role focuses on academic oversight, student guidance, and promoting positive behaviour and wellbeing within a Year Group.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Advisory Teams to maintain routines, behaviour expectations, and positive learning culture.
  • Track student performance, identify underachievement, and implement interventions.
  • Support staff in fostering constructive relationships with students.
  • Engage parents and carers to support student success.
  • Ensure attendance, inclusion, and participation in extracurricular activities.
  • Lead collective worship and promote the school’s Christian ethos.
  • Safeguard students in line with Level 3 training.

Qualifications


Required:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification, ideally with behavioural science or psychology components.

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification
  • Postgraduate qualification (e.g., NPQ)
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development, including Level 3 Safeguarding

Experience

Required:

  • 3+ years in academic care, guidance, and support at middle leadership level
  • Experience coaching students for productive outcomes
  • Safeguarding certification

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering high-quality education
  • Evidence of sustained significant student outcomes
  • Experience designing and delivering student improvement initiatives

Contract: This is a full-time, permanent position.
