Administration Assistant job summary

Merryfields School is a 113-place Generic Special School for children aged 4-11 years in Wolstanton, Newcastle-under-Lyme; we are part of Manor Hall Academy Trust.

The role:

We are looking to appoint an Administration Assistant to work in our busy school office.

The role of Administration Assistant is a maternity cover contract from April 2026 through to June 2027. The hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday during term time. Hours/days may be negotiable for the right candidate. The annual salary is paid over 12 months.

The successful applicant will need to be able to operate in a highly organised manner where attention to detail and confidentiality are paramount.

You will have a friendly yet professional approach, along with a can-do attitude, the ability to prioritise your own workload and communicate effectively.

The role of Administration Assistant is varied, key responsibilities will include supporting financial procedures, using PSF the schools accounting system, including purchase orders, goods receipting and supporting the cashless payment system. You will also be required to support HR processes including absence recording. Other duties will include general administration including the use of Arbor, the schools MIS system.

You will have a proven track record of working in a similar administration role, ideally in a school office, however this is not essential as full training will be given.
