Administrative Assistant/Attendance Officer job summary

Killisick Junior School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and highly organised Administrative Assistant / Attendance Officer to join our friendly and supportive school office team.

This is a part-time, permanent position of 20 hours per week, worked over 3 days, on a term-time only basis, with the possibility of up to 3 additional days during school holidays if required.

The role combines general administrative support with responsibility for monitoring and promoting pupil attendance. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils, families and staff to ensure high levels of attendance and punctuality, while providing efficient and professional administrative support to the school office.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working as part of a team, possesses strong organisational skills and is confident using IT systems. Previous experience of working in a school environment would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to school life in a variety of ways while continuing to develop your skills within a supportive and professional environment.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • High standards in all aspects of their work.
  • Experience of working with attendance procedures and pupil data (desirable).
  • Experience of using Arbor and Synergy management information systems (desirable but not essential).
  • A positive, proactive and flexible approach to work.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise, plan and coordinate tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, carers and external professionals.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and use their own initiative when required.
  • The confidence to take responsibility for tasks and work independently.
  • Professional and effective telephone and customer service skills.
  • The ability to maintain accurate attendance records and support attendance monitoring processes.
  • A full understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
