About the role

We are looking for a friendly, organised and proactive Administrative Assistant to join our busy and welcoming school office team. This is a varied role that will suit someone who enjoys working with children, parents, staff and visitors and is confident managing a range of administrative responsibilities. No two days are quite the same, and you will play an important role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school.

What you will be doing

You will be a key member of the school office team, providing a welcoming reception service and supporting the smooth day-to-day administration of the school. The role includes pupil attendance and records, admissions, meals, finance and procurement, communications, trips and events, as well as supporting safeguarding, first aid, health and safety and general office administration.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is well organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Has good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Is confident using IT systems and standard office software.
  • Communicates well with both children and adults.
  • Can work calmly and professionally in a busy school environment.
  • Has a friendly and approachable manner and understands the importance of confidentiality.
  • Works well as part of a team while also being able to use their own initiative.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Previous experience of working in a school office would be desirable, as would an NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification/experience in a relevant area. First aid knowledge or experience would also be an advantage.

Why join us?

This is an excellent opportunity to become an important part of our school community. You will have the opportunity to work with a supportive team and develop your experience across school administration, pupil welfare, finance, safeguarding, attendance and office management.

You are welcome to contact Lee Warner, Hub Business Manager at Lwarner@acertrust.org.uk to have an informal discussion about the role.

We reserve the right to withdraw this vacancy at any time ahead of the closing date if there is a good level of response. Therefore, we recommend you submit your application as early as possible. We also reserve the right to interview shortlisted candidates ahead of the closing date.

Please be advised that references may be requested on receipt of your application. Please state if you wish this to be delayed until shortlisting/interviews have taken place.
