What skills and experience we're looking for

Are you an organised, proactive and compassionate individual who thrives in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment? Do you want to be part of a team that's changing lives every day?

At The Harbour School, we're more than just a school. We provide stability, support and opportunity for young people who have faced significant challenges, helping them overcome barriers and achieve positive futures.

We're looking for an Administrator to play a key role in the smooth running of our school. As the first point of contact for many pupils, families, staff and visitors, you'll help create a welcoming, organised and professional environment where everyone feels supported. Through your attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and positive approach, you'll enable our staff to focus on what matters most: transforming the lives of young people.

What you’ll be doing:

  • General school administration across multiple sites

  • Accurate and efficient data and information management

  • Supporting financial processes and record-keeping

  • Ensuring compliance with school policies and procedures

  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of effective and efficient admin systems

Who we’re looking for:

  • Someone that brings a positive, can-do attitude to their work

  • Has excellent organisational and time-management skills

  • Demonstrates empathy, resilience, and a commitment to inclusive education

  • Can confidently handle sensitive data with integrity and confidentiality

  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a diverse team

What the school offers its staff

We also have an Outreach Support Team and a Hospital tuition service at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

As a specialist Alternative Provision (AP) and SEMH school, our students come to us from diverse backgrounds, many having experienced trauma, exclusion, or medical challenges. Every student has a unique story — and we’re here to help them rewrite it with hope and purpose.

What we can offer

  • A skilled, compassionate, genuinely supportive team who reflect together, and understand the emotional weight of the work.

  • Friday afternoons off

  • Strong induction and ongoing training

  • A school that celebrates progress, not just academic data

  • A role where the impact is real, human and lasting

  • Free access to the Employee Assistance Programme and our Cycle to Work Scheme.

  • The opportunity to develop your career in a School, and within the Southern Education Trust - a growing Trust where our mission is “making lives better” and our values are kindness, collaboration and creativity.
