After School Play Assistant (After School Club, with optional Breakfast Club role)

We are looking for a warm, reliable and caring individual to join our wraparound care team as an Assistant at Somerfords’ Walter Powell, part of The Vine Schools. This is a rewarding opportunity to support children across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in a relaxed and nurturing environment before and after the school day.

Hours:
After School Club: 3:00pm - 6:00pm (Monday to Friday, term time only)
Breakfast Club from 7:45am - 9:00am is also a possibility

Pay: Wiltshire Grade K
Location: Somerfords’ Walter Powell Primary School, part of The Vine Schools

About the role:
Working under the direction of the Play Leader, you will help provide a safe, welcoming and engaging wraparound care service for children aged 4 to 11. This includes setting up and supervising play activities, serving light meals, supporting routines, and encouraging positive social interaction between children of different ages.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supporting a range of fun and age-appropriate activities for children in EYFS, KS1 and KS2
• Helping to prepare and serve breakfast or light tea (food hygiene training will be provided)
• Ensuring the environment is safe, clean and inclusive for all children
• Building positive relationships with children and families
• Supporting with behaviour in line with the school’s policies and values

We are looking for someone who:

• Is caring, dependable and enthusiastic about working with children
• Can build positive relationships and communicate clearly with both children and adults
• Works well in a team and is happy to follow daily routines
• Is willing to complete training in safeguarding, food hygiene and paediatric first aid

This is a term-time only role - ideal for someone looking for consistent, part-time hours in a friendly school setting.

All appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references in line with our safeguarding policies.
