Art and DT Technician (Food Tech) job summary

Oakgrove School is looking to appoint a Technician to join our Art and Design Faculty. The successful candidate will need to be organised and able to manage their time and workload well. We’re looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic individual to be a pivotal member of the ADT team. The successful candidate will be required to work predominantly in Food but may be required across all Art and DT subjects (Art, Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials, Photography).

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up, operating & maintaining machinery/equipment within the department ensuring they meet H & S requirements.
  • Implementing Health and Safety regulations and sound working practices.
  • Ensuring the tidiness and cleanliness of the ADT rooms, workshops and other work areas under the technician’s control. Cleaning and hygiene will be a particular focus in our Food areas.
  • Liaise with teaching staff on a regular/daily basis to ascertain technical support requirements and discuss with subject leaders.
  • Assist and provide help and advice to best ability where necessary to students during practical lessons.
  • Assisting with department displays.
  • Preparing project material.
  • Willing to complete any necessary training. Attend mandatory training days in September.
