The Job:

Pleckgate High School seek to appoint an Art Teacher on a full time and permanent contract from 1st January 2027.

What does this job do?

To assist in the development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies in the subject area.

To plan and prepare courses and lessons.

To assist the Subject Leader to ensure that the curriculum area provides a range of teaching which complements the Academy’s Strategic Objectives.

To take part in the Academy’s staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development.

To contribute to the process of monitoring and evaluation of the subject area in line with agreed Academy procedures, including evaluation against quality standards and performance criteria.

To take part, as may be required, in the review, development and management of activities relating to the curriculum, organisation and pastoral functions of the Academy.

To maintain appropriate records and to provide relevant accurate and up-to-date information for Management Information Systems (MIS), registers etc.

To communicate effectively with the parents of pupils as appropriate.

What are the job requirements?

Qualified to degree level in an art-based subject or adequate post degree conversion course.

Qualified teacher status.

Ability to deliver high-quality lessons in art to pupils of all ages and abilities.

Experience of teaching art throughout the Key Stages and securing good outcomes.

Knowledge of requirements of the art curriculum and developments and initiatives relating to the subject and its implications for pupils.

Be a well-qualified art specialist.

Have experience of designing engaging learning opportunities which promote excellent knowledge and understanding of art.

Have an excellent understanding of how to assess pupils progress and make adaptations to the learning experience to allow all pupils to be successful.

Be able to demonstrate support offered to pupils that struggle with aspects of art.

Be passionate about the teaching of art and knowledgeable of art pedagogy.

Contribute to the continuous development of the curriculum that is responsive to the needs of pupils in our school.

Contribute to departmental CPD in order that all pupils receive a consistent, high-quality teaching experience in the department.
