We are looking to appoint a hardworking and reliable Assistant Caretaker to join our dedicated facilities team. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized environment for staff, visitors, and pupils. The hours of work allows for maintenance when the schools are less busy.
Working hours:
Monday to Friday, 3.00pm to 6.00pm. Holiday periods – hours can be consolidated and/or more flexible.
The role of Assistant Caretaker involves supporting the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the school premises. This includes assisting with cleaning duties, minor repairs, grounds maintenance, setting up rooms for events or activities, and ensuring that health and safety standards are met throughout the site.
You will be based at White Woman Lane Junior School and will be working closely with our Federation Caretakers.
Key Responsibilities of this role:
- Carry out routine maintenance and minor DIY or repair tasks.
- Set up rooms and equipment for daily activities, meetings, or events.
- Monitor building security, including opening and closing the site when required.
- Perform general grounds upkeep, basic cleaning, and health and safety checks.
- Report larger structural issues or specialist maintenance needs to the appropriate caretaker
We are looking for someone with:
- Practical maintenance, DIY, or general caretaking experience.
- A proactive, organized, and safety-conscious attitude.
- Physical fitness to handle manual tasks and work in all weather conditions.
- A friendly manner and sense of humour
- Good communication skills to deal with staff, contractors, and the public.
- Commitment to safeguarding standards (enhanced DBS check required for school settings
- Flexibility in work hours if needed during special events or emergencies
