What skills and experience we're looking for
The successful candidate will be an ambitious and exceptionally highly skilled practitioner, with a strong track record in supporting and leading school improvement. We are looking for someone with the right balance of skills, experience and qualities who can lead at Saxon Mount with a positive attitude, inspire teamwork, inspire outstanding teaching and learning and bring credibility, energy, innovation and direction to a dedicated team of staff and the wider school community.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate drive, interpersonal skills and a breadth of educational expertise to a very high level. They will have significant experience as a middle or senior level leader in a school setting. They will need to demonstrate skills and experience in working with a range of professionals and the capacity to manage the complex issues that characterise leadership in a successful school
The current vacancy has become available due to the promotion of one of our Assistant Headteachers to the position of Head of School at Saxon Mount School. Our new Assistant Headteacher’s main responsibilities will be Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Behaviour Lead. They will also be responsible for supporting the day-to-day management of the school and will have accountabilities in driving and securing improved outcomes for pupils and in teaching, learning and assessment. The Assistant Headteacher will work closely with the Head of School and Executive Head, along with other middle and senior leaders, identifying priorities for improvement, implementing improvement plans and evaluating school performance. They will also work closely with senior leaders at Torfield School to secure consistency of practice where appropriate, and improvement. The Assistant Headteacher will have a significant role in safeguarding and the provision we make for pupils with higher levels of need. They will also take a leading role in statutory processes such as Annual Reviews and multi-agency working.

A high percentage of children are autistic and a large number have speech, language and communication difficulties. A significant number of our children have other complex difficulties and needs that impact upon their learning.
