What skills and experience we're looking for
Post: Key Stage 1 Assistant Head Teacher – (English and Curriculum with Teaching and Learning responsibility)
Due to the promotion of our Key Stage 1 Assistant Head, we have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and driven Assistant Head Teacher to join our leadership structure at Heronswood Primary School. Our new Assistant Head Teacher will work alongside the Head, Deputy, and current Assistant Head, to build an ethos of innovation, excellence, reflection, and aspiration for all. Our school is part of the highly successful, Rivers C of E Academy Trust.
Key responsibility for the Teaching and Learning of English and the Curriculum:
- Be a member of the SLT and take responsibility for specific aspects of leadership across the school.
- Have a passion for the teaching and learning of reading and writing and hold a strategic overview of English across EYFS and Key Stage 1.
- Have a passion for the teaching of phonics and early reading.
- Have a passion for high-quality curriculum design and hold a strategic overview of the curriculum, throughout the whole school.
- Have a good understanding of data and how this is used to feed into the school development plan and SEF.
- Be a highly effective and excellent teacher of phonics with the ability to develop others.
- Be an excellent classroom practitioner able to support and mentor others.
- Keep up to date with local and national developments to continually seek fresh opportunities to reshape and reframe our provision.
- Have experience in monitoring across the school, through book looks, lesson visits, and pupil voice.
- Take a leading role in raising standards by planning and leading high-quality staff professional development.
- Take a leading role in supporting ECTs and the development of others across the school.
