What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious Assistant Headteacher, with responsibility for Inclusion, to join our leadership team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the quality of provision for all pupils on the SEND register, ensuring that all pupils are able to engage effectively in school life and learning, whatever their needs, and make progress from their starting points.

We would welcome applications from experienced teachers who want to make a significant contribution to the provision and outcomes for our vulnerable pupils. We would expect the successful candidate to have completed theNational award for SENCO accreditation/NPQ for SENCOs or be prepared to undertake this qualification.

We are looking for a candidate who will:

  • Lead by example and inspire, motivate, challenge
  • Support a committed team of teachers and support staff
  • Be committed to and champion inclusion for all children
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships with families
  • Have a commitment to delivering and receiving professional development and be reflective on their practice
  • Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN and Inclusion policy and coordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Have a good knowledge of the SEN Code of Practice, its application within schools and interventions for a range of SEN
  • Work effectively with external partners, relevant agencies and parents to effectively support and improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils and families
