The Assistant Head teacher will advise schools regarding the delivery of specific programmes aimed at developing the social and emotional skills of the pupils within their school. The successful candidates will need a high level of resilience and a commitment to working as a team to support vulnerable children. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent leadership qualities.
Victoria Drive is an,” Outstanding” and inspiring Primary Pupil Referral Unit that prides itself on the highly effective working partnership with Wandsworth Primary Schools. It uses a therapeutic, nurturing approach to support pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMHD). The core objective of the work is to sustain very low levels of exclusion by promoting the inclusion of pupils and strengthening schools’ capacity to respond to pupils’ needs.
We actively promote a holistic and trauma informed approach to support our pupils to obtain meaningful outcomes, raise achievement levels and improve self-esteem. A strong admin background and knowledge of the SEND process of Assess, Plan, Do and Review is desirable, as contributing to referrals, assessments and reporting on progress features strongly in this role.
Experience of teaching within a specialist Social, Emotional and Mental Health setting is not required.
