Assistant Headteacher job summary
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational and dedicated Assistant Headteacher who has the vision, energy and commitment to play a key role in the development of our happy and vibrant school. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SENDCo who has the ability to motivate and inspire our pupils to achieve their best. We are looking to appoint an aspiring leader to lead the strategy for our most vulnerable learners. You should be passionate about ensuring an inclusive education for all students, with a commitment to whole school improvement. This is a superb role for an ambitious person with drive and determination to take ownership of inclusion and develop the role with the full support of the senior leadership team. It is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SENDCo to continue to work with SEND pupils and give you the chance develop your leadership skills.
We are seeking someone who:
• is a creative, outstanding practitioner who can lead by example and inspire and develop excellence in others,
• is positive, self-aware and able to form good relationships with children, staff, parents and carers,
• Care passionately about children and their development whilst still driving forward pupil progress and achievement.
• Enjoys working within a dedicated and diverse team, has excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
• Has a clear understanding and demonstrable impact of how to improve teaching and learning in a school with above national deprivation and levels of SEN
• Is able to support the professional development of middle leaders to expand the SEND team at Becket Primary.
There will be a teaching element to the role so experience of successfully teaching in EYFS would be highly advantageous, although this is negotiable for the right candidate

Becket Primary School is situated close to Derby City centre within the Abbey Ward. We are a multicultural school, accepting admissions from the local and wider area. We celebrate the diversity of our pupil and staff population. 52% of our pupils are eligible for pupil premium funding and 46% have English as an additional language. There are 35 different languages spoken in school and children learn about different cultures first hand; working respectfully alongside each other. We are a fully inclusive school, with a strong reputation within the city for our inclusive approaches and have twice received the national accreditation of the Inclusion Quality Mark. There are currently 210 children on role in full time education and a 26 place nursery. Our nursery offers both 15 hours and 30 hours provision. The school has single form entry with a pupil admission limit of 30. The school is popular in the community with a waiting list each year for pupils into the Reception class.
