Assistant Headteacher job summary

For September 2022, Bursley Academy is looking to recruit an ambitious and aspirational Assistant Headteacher to join our friendly, hardworking and dedicated team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the existing leadership team and have a pivotal role in driving the academy’s vision for outstanding teaching and learning, which allows all pupils to reach their potential and develop a passion for learning.

The role will have a class based responsibility alongside their leadership responsibilities.

In this appointment we are looking for:

a leader who is:
• Passionate about education and driven to achieve the best for all children
• Keen to develop their skills and think outside of the box when facing problems
• An excellent communicator
• Inspirational for both staff and pupils
• Committed and hard working
• Has experience of leading initiatives and improving practice in schools

a teacher who:
• Is an excellent, inspirational classroom practitioner with experience of teaching in Y5/6 desirable, however there is flexibility for the right candidate
• Has a clear understanding of both KS1 and KS2 curriculum
• Is committed to raising standards of attainment, achievement and behaviour for all
• Has a caring and friendly nature, a sense of humour with a commitment to team building
• Is committed to creating an environment that nurtures and stimulates positive attitudes and independence
• Has the ability to inspire children to achieve their best
• Is committed to wider education and extra-curricular activities
• Fully supports the ethos of the academy and the trust
