What the school offers its staff

Winton is a huge primary school seeking a candidate with huge potential!

At Winton Primary our aim is to be a school that is the heart of the community, where pupils are happy and engaged with their learning and somewhere that all children succeed.

Are you ready for the challenge of leading a school within a school? As one of our Assistant Headteachers you will be responsible for a phase of our children’s education. You will lead year groups 3 and 4 (8 classes) and be responsible for driving teaching and learning forward. Within the phase, you will ensure that the needs of all learners are met, including those with EAL & SEND.

Effectively you will lead your own little school but as part of our whole school ethos. It goes without saying that you will play your part in our senior leadership team, setting the direction and leading key areas across the whole of our school. Your ideas, innovation and enthusiasm will mean that we are excited to work with you.

Why join us?

Winton Primary School is a happy, vibrant, inclusive, and forward-thinking school. Our children are curious, kind, and eager to learn; our staff are dedicated, supportive, and passionate about what they do; and our leadership team is committed to ensuring both pupils and staff thrive.

This is an exciting time to join us as we continue to build on our strengths and drive improvement, creating an environment where every child feels valued, inspired, and ready to succeed.

The role

You’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of our school, working closely with the Headteacher and leadership team to:

  • Provide strategic leadership and management across the school.
  • Lead with passion and purpose, inspiring staff and pupils alike.
  • Champion high-quality teaching and learning across the school.
  • Support and develop our talented team, creating a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Use data and innovation to drive school improvement and raise standards.
  • Nurture a positive, inclusive, and caring school ethos where every child feels safe and valued.
  • Work in close partnership with parents, carers, and other stakeholders to enhance learning and opportunities for all.

What we offer:

  • A warm and welcoming school where everyone belongs.
  • A supportive leadership team that values your ideas and ambitions.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and career progression.
  • Happy, engaged, and enthusiastic pupils who love learning.
  • The chance to make a genuine impact on the future of our school.

At Winton Primary School, part of Delta Education Trust, our mission is to inspire, motivate and challenge all children so that they become confident, caring, and lifelong learners. Join us and make a real difference to children’s lives.

About Winton Primary School

School type
Academy, ages 4 to 11
Education phase
Primary
School size
837 pupils enrolled
Age range
4 to 11

Winton Primary School is situated in Bournemouth on the south coast and is one of the largest primary schools in the south west, with over 800 pupils.

Whilst we are large enough to offer staff development and career opportunities , due to the way we separate our school structure we retain a "smaller" school feeling so that our teachers and support staff feel valued and part of all that is going on around them.

At Winton we want to be a school that is at the heart of the community, a place where pupils are happy and engaged with their learning and somewhere that all children succeed. It sounds simple, but ensuring that it happens requires hard work from a dedicated and committed staff team. We want our young learners to be excited by the curriculum, responsible members of our school community and move onto the next stage of their education well prepared. We know that to be a successful school we must ensure that children make good progress during their time here and be achieving the highest standards they can. By so doing they will be able to go on to be successful in their future.
