Assistant Headteacher for Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 job summary

This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the current post holder moving onto a Headteacher role. Currently the role is not class based but does involve some cover teaching across Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1. This is a key role in our leadership team and a chance to lead a larger than average EYFS and Key Stage 1 provision. We are a Read Write Inc. school and are proud of our high quality phonics teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to lead early reading and phonics teaching across EYFS and Key Stage 1 and provide support and advice to secure strong reading transition into Key Stage 2. This role would suit a teacher with experience of leading EYFS or Key Stage 1 with a secure knowledge of the EYFS and Key Stage 1 curriculum as well as EYFS baseline assessments, Year 1 phonics screening check and Key Stage 1 SATs. Governors seek to appoint an innovative and dedicated leader. The successful candidate will support and work with governors and the leadership team to contribute to the school’s strategic direction, impacting on pupil outcomes and whole school development. Candidates will have experience of managing a wide range of staff and working collaboratively with parents and carers. Governors and senior leaders are committed to supporting the professional development of the successful candidate as with the current post holder who is now moving into headship.
