Assistant Headteacher- Inclusion lead job summary

The school is currently judged ‘Good’ in all areas, with a calm, purposeful environment where pupils are supported to achieve well.

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Assistant Headteacher to lead on inclusion across the school, including the strategic leadership of SEND provision. This is a key role, ensuring that all pupils, particularly those with special educational needs and disabilities, barriers to learning, or social, emotional and mental health needs, are fully supported to succeed.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the day-to-day leadership of SEND provision, fulfilling the SENCo role, and will work closely with staff, families and external agencies to secure the best possible outcomes for pupils. You will drive high-quality teaching through an inclusive lens, support staff in adapting provision effectively, and ensure that statutory responsibilities are met to a high standard.

As part of the senior leadership team, you will contribute to the wider strategic direction of the school, promoting a culture where every child is valued and inclusion is at the heart of all decision-making. You will build on the school’s strong Christian ethos, where values such as resilience, hope, community and excellence underpin daily life.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of children and families, shaping and strengthening inclusive practice within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

St John's is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. The successful applicant will be required to undertake enhanced DBS checks and other relevant pre-employment checks in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education.

The Trust is committed to being a Flexible Employer and welcomes open discussion around flexible working options.

Visits to the academy are welcomed, please contact the school office on 0121 556 0269 or email admin@stjohnsacademy.co.uk
