About the Role

As Assistant Head Teacher and Inclusion Leader, you will take a central role in shaping our whole‑school approach to inclusion, SEND, safeguarding, and pastoral care. You, as a non-class based leader, will contribute to strategic decision‑making, drive high‑quality provision, and lead a dedicated team to secure the best possible outcomes for every learner.

This is a role for an inspirational leader with the passion to champion equity, the strategic insight to influence positive change, and the professional integrity to model outstanding practice. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team, playing an instrumental role in shaping the school’s future direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development of SEND and inclusion across the school, ensuring an ambitious vision aligned with our School Development Plan.
  • Champion high‑quality teaching, tailored support, and effective interventions to meet diverse pupil needs.
  • Oversee statutory and strategic responsibilities related to the SEND Code of Practice, Equality Act 2010, safeguarding and the wellbeing of all pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, families, external agencies, and governors to secure strong progress for vulnerable groups.
  • Line manage and develop the inclusion and support staff team, promoting a culture of professional excellence and reflective practice.
  • Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and the Designated Teacher for Looked‑After Children.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive ethos where every pupil is supported to succeed and flourish.
